Stolen scratch cards recovered after Post Office window smashed in Radcliffe-on-Trent

Officers responded after an alarm went off at a Nottinghamshire Post Office and discovered a window had been smashed.

Police were called to Main Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent at around 12.30am this morning (June 29) after the store’s alarm was set off.

When Nottinghamshire Police arrived at the scene they found the Post Office’s window had been smashed by an unknown offender.

It is thought that someone then entered the store and stole scratch cards from within the Post Office.

A 46-year-old man was located near the scene and quickly arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Our officers acted quickly to locate and arrest a man in connection with the report of burglary.

“We recovered the stolen scratch cards as part of our investigation and are now working hard to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“Burglary can have a massive impact on businesses and we will always investigate reports made to us thoroughly.

“I’d ask that anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch with us on 101 and quote incident number 17 of 29 June 2020.”
