Stoke City and Brentford head into their penultimate matches of the campaign on Saturday, with the Bees chasing the second automatic promotion spot and the Potters looking for as many points as they can muster to firmly secure their place in the Championship.

Current third-placed Brentford are on 81 points, just a single point behind West Brom, whose defeat to Huddersfield on Friday evening officially sealed Leeds United's automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Stoke, meanwhile, are in 18th position in the table, level on points with both Middlesbrough and Birmingham, occupying 19th and 20th-placed positions respectively.

Stoke City v Brentford kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday, July 18. It had previously been listed for a 3pm kick-off but was moved for broadcast purposes.

Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill told StokeOnTrentLive: "We’re close – but I’m not sure on the best terminology to use because equally we can’t just stop playing at this point in time if we think we’re safe, although mathematically there is still work to be done.

"e have to finish the season strongly regardless of that. That means two good performances and hopefully two good results. Most importantly it’s two good performances.

"We’ve got two tough games against two very good teams, teams that are obviously either vying for automatic promotion or for the play-offs. So it’s good for us to test ourselves at this end of the division."
