Stewart Robertson called out by Rangers fans as banner blasts Celtic friendly with pointed comparison

A section of the Rangers support called out managing director Stewart Robertson over the planned friendly with Celtic before the Europa League clash against Red Star Belgrade.

Ahead of the last 16 first leg with the Serbian champions chants of "stick your friendly up your a***" rang around Ibrox.

And that was coupled by a coordinated series of banners against the board.

Fans in the upper tier of the Govan stand unfurled the messages as the teams emerged from the tunnel.

They slammed club figures for ignoring issues fans had demanded for some time but agreeing to the friendly with their rivals.

The messages read: "Safe standing? No.

"Better disabled facilities? No.

"Friendly against the animals? Yes. Shame on you."

The messages were accompanied by a crossed out picture of Robertson.

The friendly is part of the so-called Sydney Super Cup, which will take place in Australia just ahead of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Fans of both Rangers and Celtic last week displayed messages slamming the tournament in their respective midweek league fixtures.

Local A-League sides Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers will also be involved for the November matches.
