Steven Gerrard's Rangers press conference in full as Ibrox boss makes 'always looking' transfer statement

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says he's "always looking" for new signings but won't buy in January just for the sake of it.

The Ibrox club hold an 11 point lead at the top of the Premiership, albeit having played two more matches than Celtic, and are unbeaten in all competitions.

Previous seasons have seen form collapse in January and Rangers must avoid a repeat at all costs if they're to stop 10 In A Row.

And while Gerrard won't bring in new faces just to shake things up, he admits there could be fresh blood in January.

He said: "We’re always looking. We’re always surfing if you like, looking at players and talent and potential signings that can come in and help us.

"That never stops. I’m happy where we are in terms of volume, in terms of the quality we have in the squad, but if something comes available that suits us from a financial point of view, and we think will help our group in the second half of the season we’ll try make it happen.

"But I predict there will be a few more going the other way than coming in the door.

"I don’t think we need a number of incomings if you like, but we might need one or two to freshen it up.

"But those players have to be good players who can improve the eleven and improve the group, otherwise there’s not really any point in making them."
