Steven Gerrard on Rangers' triple injury blow as Ryan Jack suffers setback

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed he is suffering from an injury crisis after Jermain Defoe added to his woes.

The veteran English striker has suffered a setback and joins skipper James Tavernier on the sidelines.

And Gerrard is also sweating over key midfielder Ryan Jack who was set to return to the starting XI for Sunday's clash with Ross County in the Highlands.

He said: "We have had a couple of injuries in the last 24 hours. Defoe and James Tavernier has come out of training but we believe we have a good squad here so it’s an opportunity for someone else to come in and make a difference for us today.

"Ryan Jack got of the bus last night, he’s with us (at Ross County) but his knee had swelled up and we need to try and get that fixed as soon as we can so that’s not ideal.

"But we believe we have enough to get the job done today."

Rangers are poised to get Filip Helander back but doubts remain over Tavernier, Defoe and Jack ahead of Thursday's crucial Europa League last 16 clash with Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox.
