Steven Gerrard reveals Keinan Davis transfer news amid Nottingham Forest interest

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has revealed that a loan move for Keinan Davis is "imminent" amid interest from Nottingham Forest.

Forest are hope to sign Davis for the remainder of the season, with the transfer window opening tomorrow (January 1).

If the move goes through as expected, the 23-year-old will become Steve Cooper’s first new addition since he took charge of the club back in September.

Adding more firepower is a priority for Forest next month, as they look to close the gap on the Championship’s top six by bolstering their ranks in a few key positions.

Davis, 23, joined Villa at the age of 17 before then manager Steve Bruce handed him his first senior debut in January 2017.

Last season, he made 15 Premier League appearances but has battled injury of late and featured only once so far this term.

In his pre-match press-conference on Friday, Gerrard was asked about Davis and a possible transfer deal.

The 41-year-old said: "Keinan Davis is imminent to go out and play some football, which he needs from a personal point of view.

"I think that will be good for him and it will be good for us."

Steve Cooper has confirmed that he would be open to the possibility of bolstering his attacking options in January.

"Possibly - or attacking players, for sure. It’s possible," Cooper said, when quizzed about whether he would be looking to bolster his attack.

On Davis, he added: "I haven’t heard anything official, so I can’t really give an update on that.

"For sure, it is an area we would like to strengthen. You want as many good attacking options as possible in this league, particularly at times when you have a lot of games."
