Steve Clarke 'very happy' at Kilmarnock as Billy Bowie reveals plans are in place for next season

Billy Bowie insists Steve Clarke is loving life at Kilmarnock and is determined to keep hold of his much-admired boss for some time to come.

The Rugby Park chairman insists the Fulham target is in no rush to leave Ayrshire and admits he wasn't surprised to see the 55-year-old linked with the Scotland job.

Alex McLeish was sacked on Thursday and Clarke is one of the favourites to land the national team vacancy.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool coach spoke recently about his desire to return to England at some point with his family still living down south as the Cottagers circle.

But Bowie admits Kilmarnock will do all they can to stave off interest with a third-placed Premiership finish a realistic target and European football on the agenda for next season.

The Killie supremo told the Express: "I wasn't surprised when I saw his name linked with the Scotland job because he has done well at Kilmarnock.

"I speak to Steve all the time. I spoke to him on Monday and I know he is very happy with where he is at the moment.

"We are doing everything we can to take the club forward and Steve remains a massive part of that.

"We, as a board, will continue to do everything in our power to keep Steve at the club."

Bowie also revealed that plans are in place for next season despite speculation surrounding the future of Clarke.

He added: "We have already started talking about our future plans of our summer camp and also if we manage to qualify for European football next season. We are carrying on and it is business as usual at Kilmarnock FC."
