Steve Bruce reveals what he's told Nottingham Forest target Jack Colback about his Newcastle United future

The slate has been "wiped clean" for Jack Colback at Newcastle United, insists new boss Steve Bruce.

Midfielder Colback looked set to leave the Premier League club this summer when Rafa Benitez was in charge at St James' Park, with Nottingham Forest keen on signing him following two impressive loan spells at the City Ground.

But the 29-year-old's situation looks to have completely changed in the wake of Benitez's departure and the arrival of Bruce, who has managed Colback previously at Sunderland.

Having been frozen out by Benitez, Colback played in the Premier League Asia Trophy for Newcastle in China last week.

And Bruce told The Shields Gazette: “I’m not interested in what’s gone on in the past.

“The slate’s wiped clean with all of them.

“The time is now to stake your claim.

"There’s one or two or three who have got the benefit of a new manager coming in. It’s up to them now. As far as I’m concerned, the slate’s wiped clean.”
