Steve Bruce confirms Newcastle United will be without key man for Liverpool clash

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that his side will be without Sean Longstaff for tomorrow's game against Liverpool.

The Magpies travel to Anfield looking to end the Reds' unbeaten start to the season, while Liverpool will be looking to make it five wins from five in the Premier League.

But Bruce's side will be without Longstaff after he turned his ankle in training.

"Unfortunately, Sean Longstaff turned an ankle in training," Bruce told ChronicleLive.

"It was one of those freak ones for Sean. He went to stop a cross and locked his ankle in the ground.

"That is what happens in football. He will miss out but there will be more occasions where he can player there (at Anfield) again."

While Bruce believes his side will be coming up against one of the best forward lines he has ever seen tomorrow afternoon.

"Up front they’re as good as I’ve seen, so we’ll have to defend well," he told the assembled press.

"It’s always been a big fixture, and you want to go there and take them on. It’s what we’re in it for."
