Steps 'murdered' Diana Ross hit Chain Reaction, admits H on Gogglebox

Steps singer H shocked some of his own bandmates after claiming they 'murdered' the Diana Ross classic Chain Reaction. He made the comment when the performers appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox this evening (Friday, July 1).

H, along with fellow Steps singers Faye Tozer and Claire Richards, gathered around the sofa to share their opinions of some of the best TV from the past week. Included among the shows was coverage of Glastonbury, including Diana Ross' set.

The singer has a special place in the hearts of the Steps singers, as they famously covered Chain Reaction in 2001. Watching the performance on TV, Faye was in awe of the legendary singer.

She said: "Can you imagine still doing this at 78 though? And just having the most incredible time of your life with the best audience who are just there for you?

But H was reluctant to keep singing into his seventies. Interrupting Faye he cried out: "No."

He added: "Do you think Diana knows we murdered that song." Claire Richard fought back: "We didn't murder it."

The threesome then took their chance and began to sing along to the song - much to the delight of their fans. However, Diana Ross faced some criticism with many people saying she sounded out of tune during her set.

Taking to Twitter Elly (@celticbard86) said: "Steps singing chain reaction while Diana Ross sings out of tune and living her best life, iconic." Meanwhile, Craig (@cb_038) said: 'H' from Steps clearly never read the Glastonbury tweets.. many ppl were saying Diana Ross actually murdered her own songs!"

@DavyWatt40 however, enjoyed all of the performances. Explaining why Steps were so invested in the song to another Twitter user, he said: "Steps did a catchy upbeat version of Chain Reaction (Amazing drum intro!). It's remarkable Diana Ross is still performing at the age of 78 years old. Diana is beautiful."
