Stephen Strasburg saved the Nationals in Game 6 because he stopped tipping pitches

What a World Series game all around for the Washington Nationals, who got back at the Houston Astros with a bat carry for the ages, overcame a bizarre interference call and have made it to Game 7 against one heck of a starting rotation.

On top of that, Stephen Strasburg overcame something other pitchers facing the Astros couldn’t in the postseason. At times, Houston hitters have appeared to pick up on hurlers tipping their pitches.

And in Game 6, it might have saved the Nats.

Strasburg told FOX Sports’ Tom Verducci that after the first inning in which he gave up two runs to Houston — including a home run to Alex Bregman — he started shaking his glove “so they didn’t know what I was throwing.” It was thanks to a tip from pitching coach Paul Menhart.

It worked. Strasburg didn’t give up another run the rest of the way.
