Stephen Kenny has confirmed that Robbie Keane won't be part of his managerial team with Ireland as the former Dundalk and Ireland Under-21s boss brings in his own men.
Ireland's record goal scorer served as assistant manager under Mick McCarthy since November 2018 but is not in Kenny's plans, with Damien Duff and Keith Andrews brought in as the new gaffer's assistants.
Keane - who turned 40 today - recently departed Middlesbrough after Jonathan Woodgate was sacked and replaced by Neil Warnock. He remains under contract with the FAI until 2022 but will not form part of Kenny's managerial ticket.
"I have huge respect for Robbie Keane, he has been an incredible goalscorer for Ireland and I'm sure he'll have a great career in management. He won't be short of options for sure," Kenny said, speaking to RTE.
"Ruud Doktor is our technical director, he makes the appointments for all our positions.
"From my point of view, I have my own team with the senior team. We appointed Keith Andrews as assistant who I worked with for 18 months. That is where it is."
