Stephen Hendrie set for Kilmarnock switch as Angelo Alessio moves to fill Greg Taylor void

Kilmarnock are set to sign former Hamilton star turn Stephen Hendrie.

Record Sport can reveal the left-back trained under Angelo Alessio yesterday and will be offered a deal for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old can sign outwith the window as he has been without a club since leaving Southend in the summer. Hendrie will fight it out with Finn Niko Hamalainen, who is on loan from QPR, following Greg Taylor ’s deadline-day departure for Celtic.

The Scotland Under-21 cap moved to West Ham in 2015 after rising through Accies’ academy to become a first-team regular. He also spent time at Motherwell on loan last year.

He won a dream move to the Hammers back in 2011 but he never played a top-team game for the Hammers before he moved on to Southend two years ago.

Kilmarnock were busy before the close of the transfer window as they landed three players in the wake of Taylor's departure.

Osman Sow, Connor Johnson and Harvey St Clair all joined up before Monday's signing deadline.
