Stephen Henderson resigns as Cobh Ramblers manager despite victory over Galway

Stephen Henderson has resigned as Cobh Ramblers boss, despite a 2-1 victory over Galway United at St. Colman's Park tonight.

The Ramblers have struggled this season and lie in seventh place heading into the mid-season break.

Henderson guided his charges to an EA Sports Cup final last year, but eventually fell to a two-goal defeat at the hands of Derry City in the decider.

The club have thanked Henderson in a statement released shortly after the game and confirmed that an interim boss will be appointed before a permanent successor takes the helm.

"The board of Cobh Ramblers reluctantly accepted Stephen's decision," the club said in a statement.

"We would like to place on record our heartfelt thanks for all his work during his time at Cobh Ramblers

"Stephen played a key role in reestablishing Cobh Ramblers as a League of Ireland club and for that we will be forever grateful.

"An interim manager will be appointed in the coming day and the club will engage a thorough recruitment process."
