Stephen Curry wears t-shirt paying homage to Oracle Arena on Thursday

In more ways than one, when the Golden State Warriors tipped off their 2019-20 season against the Los Angeles Clippers, it was the dawn of a new day.

Oracle Arena is no longer the home of the club, and as the team played its first regular season game at Chase Center, Stephen Curry probably entered the game with a heavy heart.

Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston weren’t with him, and neither were many of the diehard fans who the team left behind in Oakland. That probably had something to do with why Curry made it his duty to pay some respect to Oracle Arena before the contest got started.

Prior to tip-off, Curry was photographed entering Chase Center wearing a t-shirt that appeared that pay some respect to the now departed Oracle Arena.

It’s easy to understand where Curry’s affinity for the team’s former home comes. Since being drafted by the Warriors in 2009, Curry has called Oracle Arena home. Over the course of his 10 years playing in the arena, the Warriors won three championships and competed in five consecutive NBA Finals.

With the team clearly beginning what will be a year of transition, it’s fitting that the greatest shooter in NBA history couldn’t help but to reminisce a bit.

Hopefully, for him, Chase Center will be as kind as Oracle Arena was.
