Stephen Colbert campaigns for President Trump's dishonest media awards

This time, Stephen Colbert wants President Trump's attention.

The "Late Show" host launched a campaign Wednesday night for Trump's "Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards."

"You know, folks, its awards season. Sunday is the Golden Globes. I'm not nominated don't watch, but on Monday there's an awards show everyone's going to be glued to," Colbert said.

"Personally, I'm excited for your Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards. Or, as we call them in the business, the Fakies."

The President announced the awards on Twitter Tuesday as part of his attack against "Fake News Media."

"I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o'clock," he tweeted.

"Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!"

Colbert, who compared Trump's presidency to "watching a snake swallow democracy," said "nothing gives you more credibility than Donald Trump calling you a liar."

The show host went as far as to take out a billboard in Times Square as part of his campaign.

He also had some suggestions for categories in which he would dominate, including "Outstanding Achievement in Parroting George Soros' Talking Points," "Least Breitbarty" and "Smallest Button."

The "Late Show" host opened the show with Michael Wolff's bombshell tell-all, "Fire and Fury," which included attacks on most of the White House staff and Trump's family.

"Trump was planning on failing and walking away with the fame and the money," Colbert said.

"Or as the article describes it, 'This was a real-life version of Mel Brooks' The Producers.' Now, in some ways it still is. I mean, just look at all the happy Nazis."
