Stephen A. Smith says Gruden has ‘quit on the Redskins’ and will be fired next week

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, the seat is scorching hot for Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden after falling to an 0-4 record and facing the undefeated New England Patriots this week.

On Tuesday morning, Smith went on his popular ESPN show “First Take” and said that he has heard from sources that Gruden will be fired next week, after the Redskins likely hold onto their winless record. To clarify, Smith said that this rumor is not definitive, as owner Dan Snyder doesn’t have a record of letting a coach go during the middle of a season, but Smith thinks that Gruden has quit on the Redskins.

While this may be eventually looked back on as just another hot take from Stephen A., it also sounds like something that could very well happen if the Redskins fall to the Patriots in an embarrassing fashion, which is likely.

We will just have to wait and see if Smith ends up being right, which he will undoubtedly let you hear about.
