Stephanie Davis shares video she made before trying to take her own life

Hollyoaks actor Stephanie Davis recorded a devastating video saying 'I'm sorry' before she tried to take her own life.

In an emotional Instagram post, the actress , who said she still feel fragile, shared the video alongside a message explaining to followers that "this was a suicide video I was leaving behind saying I'm sorry and cannot continue".

In a long message shared alongside the video, which the ECHO has chosen not to share, the 26-year-old actor said her attempt to take her own life came at a time when she was working on something which she went through in real life that "brought up a lot of pain."

Stephanie said she was also battling with mental ill health and grieving the death of her uncle and that her "heart couldn't take it anymore."

Stephanie said she has since recovered in hospital.

She has spoken out in the hope of breaking the stigma around mental health and to help others in a similar situation.

A section of the Instagram post said: "Warning this video in the next slides may distress viewers.

"I've cried before posting this, I haven't been ready to talk about this and I am still fragile so please respect how hard this is for me.

"I haven't been back to work because the real truth is I relapsed and tried to kill myself. "

The post continued: "This was a suicide video I was leaving behind saying I'm sorry and cannot continue.

"I can still feel the pain in my chest when I watch this, it's really hard to watch."

In the devastating video, Stephanie can be seen crying and shaking saying: "I can't live anymore."

The actress posted the video on an Instagram account called @wearesimplycomplicated which she created with friend Zoe Grace to "break the stigma of autism, mental health, addiction and the rest."

In the message shared on the account, Stephanie said: "I relapsed after a long time sober, I did so well and I am proud of my self for that because of a build up of events that happened.

"I should have made a completely different decision with certain things and stood by everything I worked so hard for and my self worth BUT I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason as it lead to my diagnosis."

The message continued: "I was working on something which I went through in real life that brought up a lot of pain for me, I lost my trust and self worth, I hated my self and didn't feel good enough anymore.

"It's hard being a single mum, my uncle died and I was battling badly with my mental health without any help or medication and I finally broke.

"I knew I was breaking for a good while before this but I was trying my absolute BEST to be ok but I wasn't.

"My heart couldn't take anymore pain after the horrendous DV relationship which I have trauma and PTSD from and still haven't dealt with properly."

The Hollyoak's actress said at the time of her suicide attempt, she felt that "life was unfair, I couldn't breath, I was anxious."

Stephanie told her followers how she ended up in hospital for a week before she tried to take her own life.

Since then, Stephanie said she has recovered in hospital with the help of her nurse Keely who she also shared a picture with.

The 26-year-old also thanked her family for their help during her recovery including her mum who told her "over and over it was going to be okay."

She said: "Mum I am so sorry for breaking your heart and thinking of leaving you all.

"Mum, you have wiped away my tears, held me to sleep and stroked my head and told me over and over again it was going to be okay."

At the end of the post, Stephanie also thanked her followers and all those who have supported her.

She said: "Thank you to all those who follow me and have supported me. I'm back to not the old Steph but the funny Steph everyone knew and loved but 10000x better."
