Steph Curry refuses to make excuses after tough night in Warriors loss

The Golden State Warriors suffered their 33rd defeat of the season on Friday  in a 123-111 loss to the Indiana Pacers. As such, Golden State remains glued to the 10th spot in the Western Conference and is looking over its shoulder at the surging Houston Rockets.

During his postgame press conference, Steph Curry refused to accept excuses for his team’s plight. He also noted how he will never shun his responsibilities when on the court, admitting that his performance wasn’t up to his usual standard regarding IQ and figuring out ways to disrupt the defense.

“I’m never going to shy away from my responsibility when it comes to playing well every night,” Curry said. “I didn’t play well tonight. Didn’t play a smart enough basketball game that could counter some of that pressure. … Our challenge, for this team, is to understand how we play offense, how we create shots. … Being ready, being aggressive, not playing on your heels. For us, that’s when we’re at our best. We haven’t always done it. That’s why we’ve been inconsistent. … There’s gotta be a solid chemistry between everybody and when there’s not, it looks like it did tonight.”

Curry ended the game with 25 points, 5 assists and 11 rebounds while shooting 37.5% from the field and 33.3% from deep. However, a tough offensive night across the board made life difficult for Steve Kerr’s team.

Golden State has 13 games remaining in their season. One of those games will be a must-win against the Rockets. For now, though, Curry and his teammates need to figure out how to put a consistent brand of basketball on the floor. That’s been their biggest issue all season.
