Steph Curry appeared to yell ‘This is my town!’ in Boston after his half-court buzzer-beater

It was a rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Celtics, and there was a playoff atmosphere at the TD Garden in Boston.

As the first half came to a close, the Celtics forced a steal against Golden State’s Klay Thompson. Then during the transition opportunity by Boston’s Jayson Tatum, Steph Curry stole the ball right back.

Although he had less than two seconds, he managed to release the shot from 50 feet. It went in as the clock expired, and it was his first made heave since the 2019-20 campaign and the fifth-farthest basket of his pro career.

Curry, who had missed his previous 42 consecutive attempts from beyond 39 feet, leads all players on record with 10 made shots in his career with at least that distance or greater.

After he watched the shot go in, he began celebrating the very impressive and rare accomplishment. During the celebration, some fans believe he may have yelled, “This is my town!” — which is perhaps a nod to The Town (2010) film set in Boston or the city nickname Beantown.

Curry finished the game with 29 points (9-25 FG, 6-18 3P) and 7 assists with 3 steals. The Warriors lost in an overtime period to the Celtics, 121-118.

When including the playoffs, during his NBA career, Curry currently has an 8-7 record against Boston on the road and a 16-14 record against the Celtics overall.

The Celtics maintain the best record in the league (34-12) while the Warriors are the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference. Golden State has earned just five wins on the road, which is tied for the second-worst in the league.
