Stein: Boston may pivot to ‘more affordable options’ like Kings’ Bjelica, Raps’ Powell

While the Boston Celtics remain in pursuit of forwards like Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic and Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings, it seems that the New York Times’ Marc Stein believes the Celtics might consider a pivot to “more affordable options” to improve their roster in his latest newsletter.

The New York Times analyst relates how the Celtics have “duly pursued a variety of big men whose teams are resistant to deals” in the hopes of reigniting their contention hopes after a stumbling season has disappointed in the win column. And with a host of other teams driving up the cost of certain targets like Barnes and Gordon in recent days, Stein implies that Boston may reassess who it ends up going after despite being focused on the latter swing of late.

Those more affordable options? “Sacramento’s Nemanja Bjelica or Toronto’s Norman Powell.”
