Steelers WR Diontae Johnson leaves practice with groin injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers held their annual Family Fest at Heinz Field on Sunday night. It’s a night practice and huge fan event during training camp each year. But not everything that came from the festivities was positive. Head coach Mike Tomlin reported several injuries after practice but the one most concerning is the groin injury suffered by wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

Johnson missed time earlier in the week with a hip injury and missed most of the spring workouts with a hamstring injury. Tomlin did not characterize the injury as serious but things are starting to pile up for the talented young receiver.

The Steelers will now turn their attention on preparing to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday. Hopefully Johnson is healthy and can get on the field. It isn’t quite time to worry about Johnson being perpetually nicked up but we will know more about his durability in the coming weeks.
