After a miserable start to the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a position to make the playoffs if a few things can go their way. One of the big ones is for the Steelers to get past the Baltimore Ravens. Here are the keys to victory for the Steelers this week.
Maintain focus
There are so many things going on to draw the attention of the Steelers away from their goal. The Ravens are playing reserves which could cause Pittsburgh to ease up. They are going to be watching the scoreboard all game long to see what is happening between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. But all they need to do it focus on winning the game by any means necessary.
Line up and run the football
If there was ever a week for the vaunted Steelers offensive line to finally come to play, this is the week. Without Brandon Williams in the lineup for the Ravens, it is the perfect time to assert their will and run the football. There are really no good excuses for why the Steelers run game has floundered so much. The talent is there but they simply haven’t executed.
Pretend Lamar Jackson is still playing
The Steelers defense has a chance to get out of the funk they have been the last two games. The one thing they cannot do is take it for granted that Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram aren’t playing. Pittsburgh might need to score on defense to win this one and so they cannot take their foot off the gas even a little because Jackson isn’t playing.
