Steelers to Host Second Visit With Veteran Wide Receiver in Quest for Added Depth

The Steelers are hosting veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis for a second visit on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday afternoon. Pittsburgh hosted Davis for a first visit back in June.

Davis, 26, was released from the Jaguars in May. Prior to spending the 2024 season with Jacksonville, the UCF export played the first four years of his career with the Bills.

The Pittsburgh visit comes as the Steelers continue to build out their depth at receiver, behind standout WR1 DK Metcalf. In May, the team traded their other star receiver, George Pickens, to the Dallas Cowboys. And although there are rumors right now that the front office is content with the weapons it has—namely, second-year Roman Wilson, who missed his rookie season due to injury—there is still a belief that the team could add another big name to fill out what they lost in the Pickens trade.

Davis is coming off an injury-impacted run with Jacksonville, where he racked up a career low 239 receiving yards and two touchdowns across just 10 games played. At his best, however, he could act as a solid WR2, which could be just what the Steelers need to work alongside Metcalf and the rest of the supporting cast.

Davis also met with the Saints, 49ers and Giants this offseason.
