Steelers sign rookie OL Derwin Gray to 4-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making quick work of their 2019 NFL draft class. The Steelers announced the signing of three more rookies on Tuesday. One of those was seventh-round pick Derwin Gray.

At this point, the only question is what position Gray will play. He was a college tackle at Maryland but his skill set definitely fits the bill more as a guard in the NFL. Here’s what Gray had to say about switching positions.

I’ve played both, left and right tackle. I haven’t played inside. But again, I’m willing to play either one as needed. I’m not really sure where they are going to move me at or keep me out at tackle, but I’m willing to play either one.

Pittsburgh’s offensive line depth chart is fairly set. Gray does have some legitimate NFL potential but could find himself spending his rookie season on the practice squad.
