Steelers RB James Conner plans to play vs 49ers

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is dealing with a knee injury he suffered last week against the Seattle Seahawks. He was unable to finish the game and Jaylen Samuels filled in. Conner spoke to the media on Wednesday and indicated he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to practice but was confident he would play Sunday vs the San Francisco 49ers.

If Conner cannot go, Samuels would likely get the bulk of the reps at running back. Samuels has proven he can shoulder a heavy workload and I doubt there would be much of a dropoff if Conner couldn’t go. To spell Samuels, we would get an extended look at rookie Benny Snell. Ultimately, whatever happens it will be incumbent on the offensive line to pull their weight if the run game will have any success at all.
