Steelers HC Mike Tomlin gives Mason Rudolph game ball

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media after the team’s big win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. Pittsburgh won 27-3 on the strength of a big performance by quarterback Mason Rudolph in his second career start. An effort that wasn’t missed by Tomlin. He indicated he gave Rudolph a game ball for his performance.

“Can’t say enough about Mason,” Tomlin said. “We gave him a game ball in there for his first start and win. So, I thought that was appropriate.”

Rudolph finished the game with 229 passing yards and two touchdowns. And he did this without turning the football over. The importance of this cannot be overstated. A young quarterback in his second start taking care of the football is crucial.

The same sentiment goes for Rudolph’s efficiency. He completed 85.7 percent of his pass attempts by use of a gameplan that included a quick, short passing attack and allowed his teammates to make plays after the catch.

This week Rudolph will face his biggest test of the season when the Steelers take on the Ravens.
