Steelers fined $100K for not reporting Ben Roethlisberger’s elbow injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers and specifically head coach Mike Tomlin has been slapped with a hefty fine. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting the team was fined $75,000 and Tomlin himself fined $25,000 for failing to report the elbow injury quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had going into their Week 2 game with the Seattle Seahawks.

Roethlisberger went into the game with a sore elbow but never showed up on the injury report during the week. The injury got worse during the game, and he ended up not only being replaced at halftime but required season-ending surgery.

This isn’t the first time the Steelers have concealed an injury of a star player. During the 2016 season, the Steelers hid a groin injury to running back Le’Veon Bell. The injury got so bad in the playoffs, Bell had to go out and Pittsburgh ended up losing to the New England Patriots.
