Statement as 5 dogs and a cat die in Wollaton house fire

A number of dogs and cat died in a house fire. Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service were called to a property on fire at Southwold Drive, Wollaton, at around 3.50pm on Sunday, August 14.

Crews from the Arnold, Ilkeston, Stapleford, Long Eaton and London Road fire stations attended. Eight firefighters using breathing apparatus sets entered the property and tackled the fire.

No people were found inside but sadly five dogs and a cat could not be saved. In a statement on Facebook from the Stapleford Fire Station, a spokesman said: "While I thank and acknowledge the hard work that our crews and blue night partners put in to this incident, I would still urge the public, to check you have a working smoke alarm."
