Daisy White, director at Pop Up Horsham, explains why the business should win the Startup of the Year category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition:
Pop Up Horsham launched in August 2014 with the intention of providing not only an affordable space for entrepreneurs to trial the experience of high street trading, but also retail and business education on the shop floor.
In this way we enable fledgling entrepreneurs to go from ‘start up to stay up’. We are now in our sixth month, and are already celebrating our first business success.
The shop operates on a monthly rotation of up to seven different retailers. Our business model has now been chosen by Pop Up Britain for their relaunch on 1 March, when our business model will be available for councils UK wide to license and use.
We are dedicated to introducing and encouraging local pop ups in regional towns and villages and have already been asked to consult on several other projects.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
