Marie Drago, founder of Gallinée, explains why the business should win the Startup of the Year category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition:
We are two friends who are launching a very innovative beauty brand: the first to take care of your skin microbiome, your bacterial ecosystem.
With disruptive ideas but no budget, we wanted to prove future retailers there was a true market for biotic skincare. So we crowdfunded our first batch of products, got funded in five days and a lot of enthusiastic future customers.
Thanks to this our first production will be ready in March, we have been in magazines and on TV, and pre-orders are rolling in. 2016 is going to be a good year!
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
