Starstruck's Sheridan Smith reduced to tears by performance on ITV show

Sheridan Smith broke down on this weekend's Starstruck after being moved to tears by one of the performances.

Since it started last month, Starstruck has become a real Saturday night guilty pleasure for millions of ITV viewers, with some likening it to classic TV show of yesteryear Stars in their Eyes.

The premise of the show is that super fans of particular artists, ranging from Cher to Rag 'n' Bone Man and Ariana Grande to Freddie Mercury, are made over to look like their musical idols and then perform one of their classic tracks, alongside two other soundalikes.

Saturday's show featured tributes to the likes of Kylie Minogue, Billie Eilish and John Legend and, it was the performance by three fans of the latter that made Sheridan emotional.

After the three contestants had performed John's famous hit All of Me, host Olly Murs crossed to the judges for their comments, he noticed Sheridan was incredibly moved, remarking: "You've got tears in your eyes!"

She replied: "I know, my lashes are going to fall off."

Giving her feedback through tears, the No Return actress said: "Oh guys, that was just spell binding.

"That song is all about storytelling and you boys did it. Eye contact. It's one of my favourite songs.

"The lyric 'all your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections,' it gets me every time.

"You just delivered it so well guys. There was no gimmicks and other stuff, just you guys. And when the rose petals started I was completely gone!"

She added: "I was completely transported away somewhere then and you really got me.

"And that's what it's all about in performance, if you can get someone there in their heart."
