Starmer leads tributes to Labour ‘giant’ after death at 93

  • Roy Hattersley, the former Labour deputy leader, has died at the age of 93.

  • He later became a vocal critic of New Labour, accusing it of abandoning socialist principles, and was also a prolific author.
