Starbucks is giving all NHS workers a free hot drink this week - how to get yours

Starbucks is giving NHS workers a free hot drink this Christmas to say thanks for all their hard work.

All eligible workers will be able to get a free Tall beverage (12 ounces) this Wednesday (December 15) by showing their NHS identity card.

The offer will be available for just the one day across Starbucks stores - including drive-thrus - in England, Scotland and Wales.

Starbucks says NHS staff will be able to choose any Tall beverage from the menu, from festive favourites and espresso-based classics to iced beverages.

Prices for a Tall drink start from around £1.50 for a tea, going up to £3-plus for their more posh and limited editions beverages.

The cost of its drinks do vary depending on your location.

Starbucks confirmed to The Mirror that the only drinks not included will be drinks stocked in fridges - so for example, bottled water.

The offer comes as part of an ongoing partnership between Starbucks and NHS Charities Together.

As part of wider community support for NHS Charities Together in the run-up to Christmas, Starbucks customers are also able to donate optional sums of £3, £5 or £10 via QR codes in-store throughout December.

Alex Rayner, general manager, Starbucks UK, said: “Starbucks is committed to strengthening the communities we serve in.

“As part of our ongoing partnership with NHS Charities Together we wanted to say a huge festive thank you to the NHS staff that live and work in our communities.”

Ellie Orton OBE, Chief Executive at NHS Charities Together, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from Starbucks.

“Their free Tall beverage initiative and in-store fundraising enable employees and customers everywhere to show their appreciation and thanks to NHS workers, and can make a vital difference.

“Winter is always an incredibly challenging time for the NHS – and this is one of the toughest ever – which is why ongoing public support is so important.”

Starbucks has just released its Christmas menu with two new drinks - including a Fudge Brownie Hot Chocolate and Caramel Waffle Latte.

The Fudge Brownie Hot Chocolate is a smooth mocha, combined with rich biscuit sauce and milk.

Naturally it’s finished off with mocha whipped cream, mocha drizzle and a fudge sprinkle topping - basically Christmas in a cup.

The Caramel Waffle Latte, meanwhile, is hand-crafted with a combination of Starbucks signature espresso, steamed milk, warming winter waffle sauce and a stroopwafel flavoured Caramel Waffle crunch and caramel whipped cream topping.
