The Standard's astrologer Shelley von Strunckel is retiring after decades providing horoscopes for our readers.
Von Strunckel, 79, a pioneer in newspaper astrology, first started working for the Standard in 1991.
She went on to work for other newspapers and magazines around the world, including British Vogue, and became the first astrologer to write a regular column for a UK broadsheet newspaper, the Sunday Times.
Some 34 years after she first wrote a column for the Standard, she is retiring from her role at the end of October.
Von Strunckel said: "My passionate relationship with my Standard readers has warmed my heart - unforgettably. We may no longer get to meet regularly, but you'll sense when I'm thinking about- and missing - you.”
The astrologer, who was born in Hollywood, California, previously told how she was a "constant spiritual student from childhood".
Growing up in Los Angeles, she first worked in fashion, before dedicating herself from her late 20s to astrology, which she sees not just as forecasting, but as a tool for insight, growth and spiritual understanding.
Throughout her career she has been a lover and supporter of the arts, in particular opera and classical music.
The Standard’s chief content officer Anna van Praagh said: “Shelley’s contribution to the Standard has been seismic. She is an absolute titan of the industry and we will miss her greatly and wish her all the best for a happy retirement.”
Von Strunckel will be replaced at the Standard by astrologer Claire Petulengro, whose first column will be published at standard.co.uk on Monday, November 3.
