ACTIVISTS have clashed with police following a protest at a building in Glasgow.
Police were seen on video removing three pro-trans protesters after they scaled a building on West George Street, where the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) offices are located, at around 10.15 am on Monday.
The protesters could be seen on a balcony of the building, holding a sign reading: "End segregation, trans liberation."
Campaign group Trans Kids Deserve Better said they were behind the action and described it as a direct response to the EHRC interim guidance that banned trans people from using toilets and single-sex spaces of their acquired gender.
It is understood the protest began around 10.30am on Monday, with police removing them from the balcony just after 12pm.
Supporters chanted "let them go", as those who were protesting on the balcony were led handcuffed into police vans.
Boos could also be heard as the protesters were removed from the scene.
Activists were then seen trying to prevent a police van, which contained a protester, from leaving the street.
Officers were then seen trying to remove other activists from standing in front of the vehicle as they attempted to stop the police vehicle from leaving the scene.
One activist managed to get under the police van, while others tried to block the road.
Police confirmed there have been no reported injuries, and a 28-year-old person has been arrested.
In a statement, Trans Kids Deserve Better said the protest was in "direct response to the EHRC’s statements which seek to further alienate trans people from groups or spaces that they would have otherwise have been allowed to exist in."
"They’re showing the EHRC that they won’t let their guidance dictate where they’re allowed to exist, in a very literal sense," the statement continued.
"The young activists are determined to get their rage, anger and sorrow out and this action is the way to do it.
"Trans kids deserve to have a right to education without worry of being segregated because of their identity, so change that, go to the protest and be vocal about your anger because Trans Kids Deserve Better."
An activist participating, who was not named, said: “It is disappointing that we have to undertake an action such as this to be listened to, but as long as we are ignored and oppressed, we’ll keep fighting.”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.15am on Monday, 26 May, 2025, we were called to a report of four people climbing a building on West George Street, Glasgow as part of a protest.
"There are no reported injuries.
"A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection.
"Emergency services are in attendance and a cordon is in place."
Members of the trans community have been protesting against the EHRC since the body issued guidance on the interpretation of the Supreme Court's ruling that sex is biological.
The EHRC said that the ruling means that in UK law “a trans woman is a biological man” and a “trans man is a biological woman”, and said trans men and women should not be able to use the facilities of the gender they identify as.
