Stan Boardman shares outrageous Freddie Starr memories on Good Morning Britain

Comedian Stan Boardman paid tribute to his childhood friend Freddie Starr on Good Morning Britain this morning.

Huyton-born Freddie was reportedly found dead at his Spanish home in the Costa Del Sol yesterday aged 76.

Today Stan appeared on the show to share the memories of the comedian and singer.

Stan said: " Freddie was a good friend of mine and I've known him since he was a teen, it's very sad.

"He went to Rupert Road school and we used to go to Huyton to the picturehouse there, that we called The Ranch.

"He was doing the clubs and he joined a theatrical group and did a film when he was only 14.

"He was a good lad, he lived in Huyton and Old Swan and then bought a big house in London

"It was a riot."

Stan spoke about Freddie's outrageous stage antics and how he could make an audience roar with laughter.

Stan said: "I've seen him throw maggots on the audience, he's poured pints over peoples heads and gone on stage in suspenders and heels.

"He had funny bones and was a funny man."

But in recent years Freddie's health had deteriorated and Stan said he was shocked when he last saw him.

He said: "The last time i saw him I was over in Spain, he came in to see me in a club I was playing.

"He was always very thin, but he'd put on a lot of weight, we had a drink together after the show and he went on his way.

"Then I saw him on the jungle I thought he was brilliant - it's very sad, he'll be missed."
