A convicted stalker fatally shot by police while armed with a crossbow died from wounds to the neck and chest, a watchdog confirmed on Monday.
Two shots were fired from a police issue firearm at Bryce Hodgson inside the house he had forced his way into on Bywater Close, Surrey Quays, the Independent Office for Police Conduct announced.
Hodgson, 30, was sentenced to a 16-week suspended prison sentence for stalking a 31-year-old woman who lived at the property.
A five-year restraining order also banned him from entering the road where he was shot in south east London on January 30.
An inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned at Southwark Coroners Court on Wednesday.
The IOPC said its investigation is progressing.
A spokesman added: “We can now name the deceased as Bryce Hodgson.
“Two shots were fired from a police issue firearm in the house and a post-mortem examination held on Friday, February 2 has established the cause of death was gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
“We are assessing the scope of our investigation which will be confirmed in the coming days.
“As we are at a very early stage, we have nothing further to add at this time.”
Crossbows, a knife, a sword and a hatchet were found at the house, the Metropolitan Police said.
Hodgson, of West Dulwich, was wearing body armour. Despite first aid, he died at the scene.
