Stagecoach has announced a new managing director for west Scotland with wide-ranging experience in the energy and transport sectors.

Fiona Doherty is a former executive at BP Chemicals, Ineos, Glasgow Airport and Forth Ports.

She will take up her new role from 15 April replacing previous managing director Tom Bridge who left last year. Sam Greer, who has been interim MD, will return full-time to his role of UK Bus Engineering Director.

Doherty began her career as a technologist with BP Chemicals in 1990, holding a number of positions in the company before joining INEOS Manufacturing Ltd as commercial manager in 2006. She became Head of Security Operations at BAA Glasgow Airport before being appointed Port Manager East Coast Scotland with Forth Ports Ltd in 2010.

Fiona Doherty added: “This is a great new challenge and I am delighted to be joining such a successful and high-profile business which has such an important social, economic and environmental impact.

"I am really looking forward to getting to know the team and to working with them and our partners to build on the great work that has already been achieved to deliver further improvements for our customers in the future.”

Stagecoach West Scotland carries around 27million passengers, covering 20million miles each year and employs around 1000 staff.
