Staff predictions for Titans vs. Bengals in Week 4

The Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals will meet in Week 4 in a game between two teams looking to move to .500 on the season.

The Titans have been in a funk since last season, with the team losing nine of its last 10 games. Tennessee has also struggled against the Bengals in the Mike Vrabel era, going 0-3 (including playoffs).

Meanwhile, the Bengals have been uncharacteristically bad on offense in three games, with Joe Burrow’s ailing calf playing a part in that. However, Burrow might be in better shape than he was last week considering he was able to practice fully all week.

The Titans squared off against a struggling signal-caller in Week 3 in the Cleveland Browns’ Deshaun Watson, but Tennessee’s defense proved to be just what the doctor ordered to get him on track, something that could very well happen with Burrow this week.

Sportsbooks and the vast majority of experts from different media outlets believe the Bengals will win this game. Here’s what our staff thinks.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans have their work cut out in this one, considering they’re going to be without two of their best offensive players in left guard Peter Skoronski and wide receiver Treylon Burks.

This game would probably be hard enough to win with them in the lineup, but not having them severely lessens Tennessee’s chances, in my opinion.

I hope I’m wrong, but I think the Titans will end up at 1-3 by the end of the weekend.

Final score prediction: Bengals 23, Titans 17

This is a terrible matchup for the Titans for several reasons.

For starters, the Bengals sport two talented edge rushers in Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard, both of whom will give left Andre Dillard and right tackle Chris Hubbard issues throughout this game, with the Hendrickson-Dillard matchup being particularly concerning.

On defense, the Titans have to deal with an elite wide receiver trio in Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, all of whom will give the struggling secondary fits, especially if Burrow is more healthy this week.

After what we’ve seen through three games, I just don’t see an avenue for the Titans to win this game. I do think we’ll see a better offensive showing from Tennessee, but it won’t be enough to overcome the Bengals’ offensive performance.

Final score prediction: Bengals 27, Titans 20
