Stacey Solomon gobsmacked as she meets family with over 1,000 toys crammed into the house

It can be hard to let go of possessions that mean a lot to you and one family on the BBC One Show, Sort Your Life Out with Stacey Solomon, leaves the presenter shocked by the sheer number of items in their house, including more than 1,000 toys, 437 dvds, 200 hair bows and 59 hairbrushes.

On the show, Stacey and her team help families who have a lot of clutter clear out their houses and create clean and spacious homes. In the first episode of the new series, Stacey meets the Haris-Hawley family who have managed to gather an impressive amount of possessions in their two-up and two-down house in London. All their belongings are taken from their house and laid out in a huge warehouse, meaning the family can see exactly what they have, what they want to keep and what can go. Both mum Char and dad Dan struggle to let go of some of their items while children Mia and Cece find the process much easier.

Char, who was a hairdresser, finds it difficult to let go of her beauty bits such as the 59 hairbrushes. A shocked Stacey is stunned to find that Char has four bottles of face wash, all new and unopened, and 12 roll brushes.

Stacey says: "Char has got a reason for every single toiletry she has ever owned. I have really got to try and convince Char that having essentials and maybe one or two backups is enough."

Meanwhile Dan is forced to part with 21 pairs of trainers after he admits he was keeping pairs that were too small for him, and unlike the children finds it hard to let go of some of the teddies which contributed to the 1,011 toys in the house. When asked by his daughter Mia if it's time to get rid of a Paddington Bear toy he says: "It's down to you kid. When I look at it I just remember the day out we had, day out in London." while his daughter replies it was time to give Paddington to someone who could "love him a bit more".

Stacey says: "I think Dan is struggling with the fact that she is getting older and it's really emotional, at some point you do have to do 'you know what, she isn't a baby anymore and I have to let her make her own decisions'". At the end of their time in the warehouse the Haris-Hawleys manage to get rid of 60% of their belongings.

With the help of her team Stacey also adds extra storage to their home and re-positions the current furniture to make the most of the space. An emotional Char is very impressed with the changes, she says: "That is amazing...I keep wanting to pinch myself...we are so so grateful".

Sort Out Your Life with Stacey Solomon will begin on Wednesday, January 25 at 9pm on BBC One.
