Stacey Solomon comforts Joe Swash as he faces health struggle

Joe Swash made a heart-breaking admission to wife Stacey Solomon - (BBC)

Stacey Solomon was on hand to provide emotional support as husband Joe Swash faced a personal dilemma with his health.

During the latest episode of their BBC reality TV show Stacey & Joe, which aired on April 15, the former EastEnders actor opened up about living with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

According to the NHS website, ADHD is a condition where the brain works differently to most people. If you have ADHD, you may have trouble with things like concentrating and sitting still.

Reflecting on the impact it had on his childhood, he told the cameras: "Being a kid, I don't think ADHD back then was even recognised, so I had ADHD and a touch of dyslexia, so I really got tarred with the brush of being a naughty kid.”

Swash went on to explain how he coped, saying: "I feel like I sort of invented this character to sort of protect myself a little bit, just making people laugh."

Viewers then followed him as he visited a psychiatrist to seek their advice on how best to manage his ADHD amidst his hectic schedule.

Swash found the meeting highly emotional and after being given some options, chose to revisit medication.

Speaking to Solmon about it later at their Pickle Cottage home, he said: "It was nice to speak to him, because he understands the ins and outs of what's going on."

"It's opened up a box of worms for me, where it goes a little bit deeper than I thought it was going to."

Unable to keep up his usual jokester facade, the former I’m A Celebrity winner, struggled to hold back his tears, to which his other half responsed with empathy: "I know that's difficult to think about but ultimately you're a good person Joe and you're not able to be your best self at the moment.

"You don't deserve to be going through this. This is about finding your footing again," she reassured him.

Clearly overwhelmed, Seash wiped his face and attempted a faint quip: "Yeah... so that's that."

Solomon knew exactly what he needed in that moment and opened her arms to him, whispering: "I love you."
