Stacey Solomon has confessed that she almost missed out on boyfriend Joe Swash's Christmas Eve proposal.
Speaking to fellow panelists Jane Moore, Carol McGiffin, and Judi Love, Stacey described how the tearjerking proposal from partner Joe finally came about on December 24.
Stacey, 31, explained: "We were all in the house, it was Christmas Eve, I had made everyone wear gnome jumpers. We go for a walk in the woods behind our house everyday, it’s been a saviour in lockdown… and Joe was like, ‘Come on, we've got to go for a Christmas Eve walk.’
"I was like, ‘Yeah yeah, don’t worry’ and all of a sudden he started getting really frantic about it, saying ‘It’s getting dark!’"
Stacey added: "We get out the house in this big huff, we're walking along and he had someone put these white roses around these two trees that the boys always run through.
"I was like, ‘Oh my god, I think someone has passed away in our woods.’ He was like, ‘Come on let’s have a look, let’s pay our respects.’"
Thankfully this prospect did not derail the inevitable adorable proposal, but Stacey did reveal that she wished Joe had given her more of an idea of what was coming.
Discussing how she had her slippers on for the special moment, Stacey said: "I wish he had given me the heads up, just the slightest clue… It was Christmas Eve, it was only us so I was wearing my slippers, my gnome jumper…"
However, it was one telling detail that finally made Stacey realise what Joe was about to do.
"As soon as he said my full name, he said ‘Stacey Solomon’ and I was like, it’s happening, it’s finally happening to me and that was it," she noted." He got down on one knee and then I got really ugly crying face. He was like, ‘What you are going to say?’I must not have said yes for ages because he was just down on the floor and I kept going, ‘Come on get up now!’
"And he was like, ‘Well will you?’. He said, ‘Boys, what should she say?’ Then I was like ‘Yes, yes, yes, get up!'"
Stacey also explained to the other panelists that she had long been preparing for this moment and cannot wait to get married - which will likely be this year.
She amusingly noted: "I was planning this for years. I have started a scrap book, it is like meditation, it is something to look forward to.
"Who knows if it is going to happen this year with everything that is going on, but just to have something in sight for the future."
