St Peter’s boss Paul McTaggart insists there’s no longer a debate about who the best team in Paisley at their level is.
The Glenburn-based side put their Ferguslie rivals to the sword for the fourth time in a row this season, after they both joined the West of Scotland Division 4 last year.
First half strikes from Logan Dempsey and Taylor Fadian had the visitors in cruise control before Ross Stevenson grabbed one back for Vale with a fine finish.
St Peter’s put the match to bed when Calum Bateman stretched the lead to 3-1 direct from a corner, with the hosts unable to mount a comeback in the closing stages.
McTaggart was delighted to see his side maintain their dominance over their local rivals.
McTaggart told Express Sport: “I didn’t really feel we were under any pressure throughout the game at any point.
“At 2-0 up we were in control but to be fair Ross put it away well into the top corner just before half-time.
“We told the boys to go out and be dominant again and that’s what we did in the second half.
“It could have been five or six if we’d been more clinical with our chances.
“We’ve got to be happy with that record of four wins in four. The boys were buzzing after the game.
“It’s a great feeling to walk away from our four games knowing we are the best team in Paisley.”
While enjoying the victory, McTaggart insists he hopes to see both clubs do well next season when the West of Scotland divions are finalised.
He hopes they can both make a positive impact on the game at their level to put Paisley on the map.
McTaggart said: “I spoke to John Kelly (Glenvale’s manager) before and after the game.
“He said he was disappointed with their lack of fight, especially having gone in behind at the break.
“We had a good discussion after the game and we both agree it’s about time that someone upset the apple cart at our level.
“The Ayrshire teams have always been so dominant. It would be nice to have two strong Paisley sides makind an impact on our level.”
Glenvale boss Kelly admitted he was disappointed with his side’s overall hunger and desire throughout.
He said: “We never turned up today, we were very sloppy all over the pitch and didn’t deserve anything from the game.
“We lost two goals from long throws into our box and a goal straight from a corner. If you can’t defend these situations then you will struggle to keep a clean sheet.
“We had moments in the game when we created very good chances, but again when you don’t take those chances you will struggle to win the game.
“Credit to St Peter’s. Their younger boys were bang at it and were much hungrier than we were.”
