St Mirren keen on Steven Fletcher as Eamonn Brophy nears Ross County switch

St Mirren are one of a number of teams chasing the signature of former Sunderland and Scotland striker Steven Fletcher.

The influential forward is a free agent after leaving Dundee United following their relegation last season.

The 36-year-old, who enjoyed a hugely successful career south of the border, is now weighing up his options as he looks to remain in Scotland.

The Buddies are understood to have entered talks with the player's representatives with a view to persuading him to move to Paisley, with Stephen Robinson looking to replace Curtis Main who left the club at the end of last season.

Premiership rivals Motherwell are also reported to be interested in the striker.

Saints forward Eamonn Brophy meanwhile looks set to join Ross County.

The former Killie hitman struggled with injuries during his spell at the SMiSA Stadium, making a loan switch to the Highland club in the second half of last season which was cut short by a thigh problem.

The 27-year-old has been training with the Buddies but now looks to be returning north to join the Staggies permanently.

St Mirren winger Jay Henderson has also been linked with a move to Ross County, having enjoyed a successful loan spell with their rivals Inverness in the second half of the last campaign.

The 21-year-old winger has been offered a new deal to stay in Paisley by Robinson but has yet to agree terms.
