St Mirren confirm they will appeal SPFL forfeit punishment for protocol breaches

St Mirren are appealing the severe punishments dished out to them by the SPFL.

The club are understood to be unhappy with the severity of the sanctions imposed on them for Covid-19 protocol breaches, which included forfeiting two postponed matches against Motherwell and Hamilton and a suspended £40,000 fine.

The Buddies also feel there are midweek opportunities for the games in question to be re-arranged, with both having been awarded as 3-0 victories to their rivals.

A club statement said: "St Mirren Football Club can today confirm that it will be appealing the decision of the SPFL tribunal on Thursday December 3rd 2020.

"The club is unable to make any further comment on this matter until the proceedings are complete, at which point we will update our supporters."

Kilmarnock were also punished with a 3-0 forfeit of a postponed match with Motherwell.

They have until tomorrow to submit a similar appeal.
