SSE Airtricity League clubs will play behind doors in European competitions

The four SSE Airtricity League clubs competing in Europe in August will do so behind closed doors.

UEFA have decided that European club matches will be played without supporters until further notice.

Dundalk, the league's Champions League representatives, will get their challenge underway on August 18 or 19.

Qualifier ties have been cut to one leg and, should they win their match, the second round will be a week later, before the two-legged format is restored for the third round in late September.

In the Europa League, Shamrock Rovers, Derry City and Bohemians start their campaigns on August 27.

The FAI are awaiting word from UEFA as to whether their Nations League games in September against Finland and in October against Wales can be played in front of a limited attendance.
