Spurs news: Transfer record smashed, Man United move great news for Tottenham, Guardiola warning

After two transfer windows without a signing, Tottenham are back on the horse.

And they have signed not one, but two new players in one day!

Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele have both joined the Mauricio Pochettino revolution at Spurs, although only one will be available next season.

Here we take a look at the latest stories doing the rounds for Spurs.

Ndombele signs

After weeks of speculation, Tanguy Ndomble has finally become Tottenham's new club-record signing.

The France international has joined Spurs fro Lyon for a fee of £54million, with an extra £9million in add-ons potentially going to the French club.

Daniel Levy secured the midfielder on a deal a lot cheaper than Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas wanted to sell him for.

Here's the inside story on how the deal went down.

Clarke becomes signing number one

Jack Clarke became Tottenham's first signing of the summer.

And in fact, the club's first signing for more than 500 days.

The Leeds United wonderkid joined for around £8.5million, but he has gone straight back out on loan to Leeds for the 2019/20 campaign.

Here's why that should be considered a good thing.

Maguire to Man Utd?

Manchester United are continuing with their attempts to improve in defence.

Last season is one that Red Devils fans will want to forget in a hurry.

Not only did they finish sixth following a disastrous end to the campaign but they also had their worst top-flight defensive record since 1978-79 after shipping 54 goals which was more than the likes of Wolves, Everton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

And they are making attempts to rectify their defensive issues.

Here's why that could be great news for Tottenham.

Guardiola's warning

Manchester City made it back-to-back Premier League titles last season.

After a 2017/18 campaign where they amassed 100 points, Pep Guardiola's men followed it up with a 98-point haul last season, beating Liverpool by just one point.

And they show no signs of letting up as the 2019/20 campaign edges ever closer.

The new season begins on Friday, August 9 and City boss Guardiola has issued a warning to the rest of the big six.
