Spurs fans will love what Ryan Sessegnon has said about his Champions League target

Ryan Sessegnon is starting his first Champions League game for Tottenham this evening.

Signed in the summer on transfer deadline day from Fulham after a lot of talk about a move across the capital previously, the player's time in N17 so far has been blighted by injury.

Arriving at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a hamstring issue, it wasn't until the start of November when he made his first appearance for the club as he came off the bench against Everton.

Teeing up Christian Eriksen in his next game as the team won 4-0 away at Red Star Belgrade, the 19-year-old had to wait a month for his next bit of match action as Jose Mourinho introduced him late on off the bench against Burnley.

Tottenham train ahead of Bayern Munich

Sessegnon will be looking to seize his chance in Munich this evening as he hopes to nail down a regular place in the team under the new head coach.

With the versatile player watching on last season as the team made it all the way to the Champions League final against all the odds, he believes that the team are capable of going one better come the end of May.

"Definitely," he said when asked by BT Sport if Spurs can get to the final again. "There's a lot of good depth in this team and there's a lot of players that have been left behind.

"Again, the players coming in can do as much of a good job as the player left behind.

"To get to the final last year, watching that as a spectator, was good. I think why not we can go one better and win it this year."
