KANPUR: Three persons allegedly involved in manufacturing and supplying spurious liquor were arrested in a joint raid by Excise department and police at Gihar Basti area of Thathia in Kannauj. The police recovered 15 liters of spurious liquor and equipment used for manufacturing the same from their possession.
A joint team of Excise and police headed by Thatia inspector PN Bajpai and Excise inspector Amit Kumar Nirmal raided the Gihar Basti on Sunday. During the raid, 15 litres of raw liquor, furnace and liquor making equipment were recovered. The police caught Ranjit alias Kariya and Meera Gihar and Sarvesh from the spot.
After registering a case, all three were sent to jail. Inspector Thatia said that such raids would be carried out on a regular basis to put a check on manufacturing and supply of illicit liquor in the district.
